The Huoshen Foundation-Body-based learning and growing was created from a concern with the wellbeing of adolescents, and the awareness that in this difficult period of immense physical and emotional changes, young people do have the strong capacity to observe and recognize their emotions and thoughts. With the proper guidance, this self-reflection can give them insight in the mechanism that guides their relations with others. On the other hand, traditional therapies and methods to more wellbeing often don’t seem to have the desired effect in working with young people, or do not adequately address the core of health education: to learn- in the safest possible environment – young people tools to be able to be(come) responsible for their own wellbeing. The Huoshen Foundation considers body-based practices as very promising in contributing to this kind of positive, constructive health education for youth.
